Review: Tom Yum Hor Fun @ Sanook Kitchen, Woods Square B2-08.

A visit was made on Wednesday, 9 December 2020 at 7pm.

Listed as one of the dishes under Noodles, this Tom Yum Hor Fun at just $5.90 is truly value for money. It tastes good and lives up to Sanook’s tagline ‘Cooking Authentic Thai Food’. With a generous portion, ample mushrooms and fresh prawns, this tasty dish should get you filled as a standalone lunch or dinner meal.

Branding & Customer Experience

The Sanook brand is well designed and brand-compliant. The logo in black/white colours with 3 separate circle is cool, simple, easy and memorable. The setting and ambiance is fitting for a mid-range restaurant but with budget-friendly pricing as in about $10 to $15 for 1 person good meal including drinks and a dessert or between $70 to $80 spend for a family of 5.

Service is certainly an area of improvement. No warm welcoming reception was was given. While the waiting for single order was not long, the set meal items were served far in between time making the dining experience less than pleasant because the food could not be consumed together.  When enquiry was made with the supervisor, the response was simply “We got too many orders so the kitchen is trying to cope (an indication of staff shortage) so there is nothing I can do.” Certainly customer serving training is required to better equip the supervisor and crew on how to engage customers well.
